John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Receiving Jesus Christ is the most important thing that a person can do. Salvation is not based on a religion or a name of a religion. It is the truth of the eternal Word of God.
Here are some Biblical verses that explain salvation and how to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior. This is salvation from hell. In short, this is called the Roman's Road.
Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
The Bible says that we are all sinners, and cannot work our way to heaven. We are born sinners, and our good works for God is not the way for salvation.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Because we are sinners, God can't let sin into heaven and we are to deserving of hell. That is our punishment. (Wage) The best part is that God provided His Son, Jesus, as a gift to the world to provide eternal salvation.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
God loves you and me and the entire human race so much! He gave His Son to die for us and pay the penalty for our sin.
Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
Jesus shed His blood on the cross for the payment of our sin, so God considers that as an act of justification for us. (We are justified as if we never sinned.) We are saved from the wrath of hell.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
We need to do our part in salvation by receiving the gift of salvation. Realize we are a sinner, admit that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, believe in our hearts that it's true, choose to commit our lives to Him, and He is our gift.
Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
This verse tells how it is that we believe in our hearts about this salvation and when we say so believing (confession), it solidifies our eternal life in heaven.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
This verse describes the final act of receiving the gift of God and eternal life. God made it so simple that even a child can understand and do. This is what you do by praying this prayer. God will hear you.
God, I know that I am a sinner deserving of hell. Be merciful to me a sinner and come into my heart and life and save me. I receive Jesus as my Savior. In Jesus name, Amen.
If you prayed this prayer, the Bible says that you are born again and are a child of God. Since you are in the family of God, you can never lose this salvation or be unborn out of the family of God. (See my notes on eternal security and assurance.)
Now what?
Now that you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, you need to grow in the Lord by Bible teaching and being around other Christians. This is most important for the newly saved. Skyline Baptist Church is one of the best places to start your growth in the Lord -- to be taught the Bible, and to be around Christians that will encourage you in your life.
If you have any questions, or you need to talk to me about your new life in Christ, please call me or come to a Skyline church service. May God richly bless you.
If you call or e-mail me about accepting Jesus, I will send you a Bible book mark that has all the books of the Bible listed, and other information.
